India’s grabs their first medal in Tokyo Olympics

India couldn’t have asked for a better start in Olympics as India wins their first Tokyo 2020 Olympic medal on day 2 and it comes in the color of silver in weightlifting by Mirabai Chanu in Women’s 49kg category who lifted a total weight of 202 kgs behind Gold medalist- Hou Zhihui who successfully manage to lift 210 kg by making an Olympic record while Indonesia’s Windy Cantika grabbed bronze by lifting a total weight of 194 kg. Chanu started very strong as she lifted 84kg in her first attempt in snatch and it was a clean lift and even she get more stronger in her 2nd attempt where she lifted 87 kg but she was getting fierce competition from Hou Zhihui who was bold in her first attempt and raise the temperature of the game by lifting 88kg in her first attempt, but 3rd round brings some disappointment for Chanu as she failed in that attempt but her opponent Hou made a Olympic record by lifting 94 kgs in her third attempt in snatch and at the end of first round Hou Zhihui was on top of the table while Chanu was 2nd with 87 kg and in next round the stage was set for Chanu and in her first attempt in clean and jerk which was 110kg by lifting that she secured the medal but the color was still undecided but again Zhihui went strong with 109kg and Zhihui in 2nd attempt set the Olympic record by lifting 114 kg but minute later Chanu broke the record by lifting 115 kg in her second attempt but in my opinion the medal color was decided already but in third attempt Zhihui went for 116 kg and she did it beautifully and confirmed the gold medal for her but Chanu eyes were on Olympic Record so she decided to go for 117 kg but she failed but after the attempt there was smile on her face because she knew what she has done for her country and she grabbed the silver in her Second Olympics.

The medal was well deserved after failing miserably in Rio Olympics in 2016, she has worked hard and set various records on a world level, and heading to this competition everyone was expecting a medal from her seeing her form even his coach has said in one interview we are going to challenge for silver and they both did for their country and made us very proud. So hearty congratulation to both of them I hope we can win more medals in this Olympics.
